Best overall: Amelia

Amelia is a super agile WordPress appointment plugin which is compatible with Elementor and has all the features you need.

What To Be Aware Of With A WordPress Appointment Plugin

Before we dive into the 8 best WordPress appointment plugins, I just want to highlight what you need to be aware of when choosing the right plugin for you.

Compatibility: If you’re using an email marketing platform to send your customers, ensure the appointment plugin supports at least Zapier or a direct connection to your tool.

Elementor: If you’re using Elementor, ensure the appointment plugin you choose supports Elementor. You can always use shortcodes in the end; by this, use any plugin with Elementor.

Email notifications: When people book appointments, they tend to forget. An appointment plugin should be able to send out reminder notifications per email to your appointments. This will ensure people don’t forget their appointments.

Integrations: This is a large point, but make sure your appointment plugin integrates with the tools you use. This could be your Google Calendar, a payment provider or something third.

Customisable: You want the appointment page to look like it’s part of your website and not some third-party plugin. Make sure the plugin you choose can be customised to fit your website.

Mobile-friendly: Today, we browse more from our phones than our computers, so the appointment plugin must be responsive and work flawlessly on tablets and mobile.

Payment options: If you need to take payments for the appointments up front, ensure your appointment plugin integrates with your payment provider or a payment provider you can use.

Management for your clients: To help you avoid spending hours managing your clients’ appointments. It would be a bonus if the plugin supported this automatically for the clients to manage their own appointments by themselves.

amelia website

Amelia is the most agile appointment plugin, and they’ve been the king of the appointments category of plugins.

Their plugin is so well-thought-through in the development, it’s solid, and you get so much functionality.

If you don’t like subscriptions, Amelia is also being sold as a lifetime deal. On their pricing page, switch to lifetime, and you only have to pay once.

My favourite thing about Amelia is their design. It’s so important today that your design is fresh and up-to-date and that you get with Amelia and other relevant appointment features.

  • Free version: No
  • Features: SMS Notifications, custom fields, integrations, calendar synchronisation and reminder emails.

It integrates seamlessly with WooCommerce and uses the payment functionality and more from the WooCommerce environment.

It’s fully customisable, and you can change everything from the design of the event to how you want the event to be. Everyone can book an appointment for the event, whether it’s free or paid.

  • Free version: Yes
  • Features: Automated booking status updated, fully configurable, WooCommerce integration, exports and management.
  • Price: $79 / year

3. WooCommerce Appointments

WooCommerce Appointments

This is another option if you’re already using WooCommerce, as this integrates seamlessly as well.

You get a quick set-up and flexible availability rules for your appointments. Overall this plugin is super flexible.

You can set up capacity rules, pricing rules, timezone conversion and much more to make your events flexible for anyone.

It also supports shortcodes, so you can easily use it with your favourite site editor, whether it’s Elementor, Zion Builder or something third.

  • Free version: No
  • Features: Custom fields, calendar synchronisation, staff management, pricing and API.
  • Price: $89 / year

4. Simply Schedule Appointments

Simply Schedule Appointments

This plugin is entirely free, and you get all the functionality at no cost. It’s, without a doubt, the best free appointment plugin.

While it doesn’t have super advanced features like Amelia, you get the cores functionality to set up calendars to manage appointments.

You can set up unlimited booking calendars, reminder notifications, advanced scheduling, and more.

This plugin is perfect if you’re on a budget and want to get started with being able to take appointments. You can always upgrade to another plugin down the line.

  • Free version: Yes
  • Features: Notification emails, advanced scheduling, Elementor widgets, translation ready and integrations.
  • Price: Free

5. The Events Calendar

The Events Calendar

I have been using The Events Calendar for a couple of years now, and it’s always been a solid platform.

Recently they’ve upgraded the design massively, and it’s super modern and beautiful.

You can get started for free and later upgrade when you hit the limits.

You get calendar synchronisation, a customisable editor, multiple views for your calendars, shortcode support, and many more great features.

This is a great plugin to get started, and when you grow, you can stay in the environment and upgrade to the paid plan when needed.

  • Free version: Yes
  • Features: Automated booking status updated, fully configurable, WooCommerce integration, exports and management.
  • Price: $99 / year

6. Bookly

Bookly

Bookly is on a mission to create the best possible WordPress booking plugin, and they’re doing great.

It’s a simple plugin, yet they have added a knowledge base, payment integrations and a bunch of add-ons.

You can easily customise the look and feel of your calendars and whatever industry you’re in, and then Bookly can solve the issues you’re facing with appointments.

In the admin part, you get great filter options and a calendar overview of your entire team’s bookings.

The only thing you need to be aware of is that every add-on costs $39. So if you need an integration to a payment provider and maybe an email client, then it’s $78 as a one-time payment.

You can see all their add-ons here.

  • Free version: Yes
  • Features: Wizard setup, knowledge base, payment integrations, add-ons and customisations.
  • Price: $89 / one-time

7. Booknetic

Booknetic

Booknetic is a WordPress appointment plugin packed with features like reminders, payment integrations, custom forms and more.

Again, you must know that any extra functionality comes at a cost. So the plugin is a one-time payment of $79, whether it’s integrations or email notifications.

That said, you benefit from a one-time payment and get a beautifully designed plugin with great functionality.

You can see all their add-ons here.

  • Features: Custom forms, reminders, responsive design, group appointments and manageable calendar.

8. StartBooking

StartBooking

StartBooking, for me, is in the end. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an outstanding plugin, but it’s a bit pricey compared to what you get.

You still have the basic functionality of bookings, calendars and customisations. On top then you get integrations, and they even have a mobile app you can use on the go.

It’s a well-designed plugin and works great for group booking and classes.

So if you need a mobile app and work with group booking, this might be the right plugin for you, even with the high price.
